Seeking a magic item that helps to hit

In my group, I have two players that are total opposites in terms of gaming luck. The funny thing is, it's a father & his teenage son.

The teenage son has terrific luck as an archer-ranger (he's rolled 19s or 20s when blinded...) and rarely seems to roll below a 15 in combat.

The father, on the other hand, often has terrible luck and is just the opposite. He's playing a fighter/defender and he's gotten pretty frustrated in missing with Daily and/or Encounter powers fairly regularly.

Are there any magic items that allow one to say, add +2 or +3 to your next attack roll, or add d6, or something like that, as a daily power? I'm hoping if he can get an occasional bonus to hit, it will stave off the constant missing and frustration.

Thanks

My first question would be does the son REALLY roll those numbers, as in do you see him make those rolls? I've got a person in the group, I DM for, who most certainly does not roll all of the high numbers he claims to. It defies credulity for him to go through three encounters in a session, while never failing a saving throw nor rolling less than a 15 to hit. Every. Week.

I 'adjust' for it.

There are a few things out there, that might help your other player. The first is the most simple; combat advantage. It's an instant +2 to hit. If he has a good WIS then he could multi-class as an Avenger, for limited Oath of Enmity use. There's the "Learning Weapon" that, each time you miss an opponent, gives you a cumulative +1 to hit the next time (up to the weapon's bonus, as a maximum).

If there were items out there to give a generic +2 or +3 to hit, everyone would already be using them anyway.

yes - we make all of our combat/damage rolls on the table in front of everybody.

Learning weapon is a good idea, though.

He's replaced his dice several times over the course of the past few campaigns.

Yeah, but has he taught the new ones a lesson in "dice compliance?" They can be very effective. Shock and Awe, baby!!!!!

I have a friend that has the same "luck" problem. As a matter of fact when anybody else's dice start "misbehaving" we call it the "Bodine Effect" in honor of his horrible dice rolling. We've also coined the Bodine Aura (any dice within 1 chair of Bodine receives a negative modifier to all rolls).

It's quite an event when he gets a critical hit. We've come up with the feywild analogy of a fairie getting her wings whenever he rolls a crit. It's cause for celebration the multiverse over.

try an Inescapable weapon, it gives a cumulative +1 to hit everytime you miss until you hit something, that way he will at least get some sort of bonus for missing
