The after Icespire Peak module Divine Contention has a section where a group of undead and a group of barbarians attack a town of Leilon. It has a section of staging the combat with the PCs making decisions to gain 'victory points'. With the 3 sided battle, they must choose to react to certain places or one group might get into town. Both groups are after a McGuffin in town, but you might be able to modify it.
Lair actions are an interesting approach I hadn't considered. Thanks! Also, if you’re going for the vibe of the film and its many, many descendants, you’re probably looking at a final battle defending the town. Consider weaponizing the town to assist the party by giving them lair actions.
At some point in the future I'm planning to run Red Hand of Doom in its entirety. But I'll browse it and see if it gives any inspiration for this adventure. Thanks.Red Hand of Doom? - PCs help defend a valley from a Hobgoblin invasion
Warhammer had Night of Blood where PCs defend an Inn from cultist
Nope. But definitely a great candidate for an update to 5E.Was that ever re-released for 5e in one of the adventure anthology books?
Yeah Lair Actions are my favourite 5e innovation, giving them to PCs to model the town defense is a great ideaLair actions are an interesting approach I hadn't considered. Thanks!
