Shifter forms

In the Masters of the Wild FAQhere it says (twice) that shifters get the extraordinary abilities of the creatures they change into.

Has this been contradicted anywhere? Shifters can take the forms of rust monsters or grey oozes and get the special abilities?

Sweet.

Are shifters able to assume the form of fey? They aren't in the MotW table, but I'm hoping it is an oversight.

And finally, how long does a shifter's greater wild shape ability last? Is it tied to the caster level? This is kind of weird, given that shifters don't increase their caster level.

Shifters get the feats and any Ex abilities (that aren't type dependent) of an assumed form.

Shifters are currently unable to take the form of a fey or shapechanger.

Wildshape and Greater Wildshape no longer have durations. They last until the character changes to another form.

Wow. Thanks for the fast reply! :)

So, no quickling or pixie forms for a shaper.

How about the number of attacks? If a shaper turns into a Girallon, can it use all four arms? I would imagine that this would be an extraordinary ability (usable even in an anti-magic field) and so not usable by someone who uses Polymorph Self, but if it's a shaper?

Similarly, how about a gibbering mouther? Can a shaper in such a form get 6 attacks?

Although I haven't seen official, I believe wildshape and GWS give you the attack routines of the form you take (polymorph and shapechange do not). So, yes, if you change into a Girallon, you'd get 4 attacks. You could even turn into a 12-headed hydra and get 12 attacks per round.

One of the key limitations to the shifter class is familiarity. The DM has some control over what forms a shifter has access to. Usually familiarity means that you have to have fought it in battle or studied it in person for a lengthy amount of time.

WS and GWS are spell-like abilities (SU for high level shifters), this is suppressed in an anti-magic field. So you would revert to your natural form.
