skills/feats question

I am in a campaign where me and my characters's mate are going to be battle couples. character's mate, the dragonborn will be the rider and my character, the dragon/shifter will be the mount for combat when it happens. What feats or skills would be good for my char to help assist with anything that would make the battle couple thing work?
