Anyone hate the- Hey look we did something completely different - oops no we didn't, part of this episode?

(As I said SPOILERS):

Clark reveals himself as a super powered being in this episode with all of the resulting consequences - except, of course, by the end he time travels back a few days to change the outcome so that it never happened.

This is the second (maybe even third) time that the writers have pulled this stunt - Do something drastically different (ex. kill Lana) and then backtrack (through time travel) by the end of the episode. It was bad writing then and it came off (IMO) as even worse here.

The writers have shown a willingness to ignore canon (though not major canon) when expedient, why resort to such blatant annoying gimmicks as doing something then reversing it by time traveling back (especially for more than 1 episode, but 1 is bad enough).

Did not like it at all.

As soon as Clark starting telling the truth I knew it was going to end badly. The only good think that happened was it got rid of the time traveling ring. And Linda Lake got killed, I didn't like that character. Okay, two good things. It is so far the worst episode of the season, maybe the past few.

Only the second or third? Heck, the show used to make a regular practice of secret-ID-revelations fakeouts, not to mention years and years of "this is the big episode where Lex finally becomes a full-fledged villain". Now that Lana actually knows Clark's secret and Lex is a BBEG, it's easy to forget, but go back and look at how common this sort of crap used to be.

This episode was lazy and sloppy old-school Smallville. The mere accusation from Linda Lake has Clark busted almost immediately, and even with full boy-scout cooperation, the authorities are triggerhappy dastards chomping at the bit to lock him up in super-Gitmo and throw away the key, or just gun him down on the spot. Inconvenient for Clark, convenient for lazy writers.

As much as I prefer the original cut of E.T. (with agents toting guns instead of walkie-talkies), the folks in national security know how to discern when a potential threat is also a potential asset. I feel pretty confident in saying that if the government learned about super-powerful beings in their midst, they wouldn't play this jack-booted-thug card like they tend to do in Heroes or this episode. Not initially, anyway. At first they would be all smiles and make every attempt at courting these potential assets like top NFL draft picks.

At least Clark destroyed the ring at the end of the episode--stupid thing for him to do, right after it saved his bacon, but at least the writers headed off that easy out for them.

The thing that got me the worst -- and I know, there are plenty of things to be unhappy about -- was Clark putting on the ring when Lois is in mid-sentence telling him that she has something really important to tell him. Lame, lame, lame.

As soone as we say Chloe know who Doomsday was I knew there would be some stupid reason why Clark doesn't get the information.

Felt like the show itself had gone back in time. Haven't see a reset like that in a while.

Bad episode.

Linda Lake AND Tori Spelling were terrible. I was really hoping things were moving forward when Clark told Lois his secret; there was some way she would keep the knowledge. The mid-sentence thing was dumb.

As much as I like the show, I'm not sure I can go through another season of the same old same old.

What a waste of the 'ring' plot device! Smallville is the best show on the CW this year and is getting a 9th season, crap...end it, end it now.

This episode set the show back a a long ways from the stupid stuff we're used to. This horrible writing all around. There were so many better ways to do things and not insult the viewer.
