make a god #1 > you have to decide a few things about how Gods work in your world. A> Do gods ultimately get thier power from worship of thier followers? Yes > If so then once he has enough worshipers ... and has enough power in his portfolio like Epic Level then he gets devine rank 0.. to go up he needs more followers. No > If Gods do not ultiamtely get thier power from worshipers than he needs another way to godhood. B> Is there a limited total amount of divine ranks for all gods put together? Yes > If so then he has to get some of those ranks from the exsisting gods one way or the other.... but nothing that requires a god to give up one of its devine ranks is going to be easy. No > If not then there should be less competition from the other gods for him to get his first devine rank of 0 .... I would still expect some proubles as evil gods don't want more good gods and good gods dont' want more evil gods ...etc.... but should be far less than requireing a god to give up a devine rank. #2 > Don't make all the adventures about the one character... there is going to be allot of quests for the character to do in order to try for godhood... but every quest and every adventure shouldn't be about the one character... that is not fair to the other players.... in order to make the quests a good balance make them things that no one character could do which will require the help of the other players. #3 > Remember this is a pandora's box here... once you open the progression box beyond Epic into godhood... it doesn't close easily... which means unless you make it very very hard and require allot of sacrifices to get there you are likely in no time to see everyone playing gods and devine ranks keep going up and up.... which can work... but just remember and be ready for other players to then want to make more powerful gods.... you will need to be just as fair and even with all the players. #4 > Being a God has down sides too....
