I have read Forbidden Lands, but not yet played it. How would you compare it to other systems? Are you familiar with Dragonbane perhaps? That seems to fill a similar ‘low fantasy’ feel.I like this system. It's a keeper.

I’ve played Dragonbane solo and GMing it for my group. There are similarities but the dice pool resolution, for me, make solo feels more alive than a single d20 die roll. FL feel grittier, darker. The setting and the illustration convey that very well.I have read Forbidden Lands, but not yet played it. How would you compare it to other systems? Are you familiar with Dragonbane perhaps? Thanks. When I rolled Druid as leader of the village, it opened a door in my imagination. It all flowed from there.pretty cool arc with the deserters and the tree, specifically I like the interpretation of the yes/no oracle
Yes, the exploration style of the system, and the solo system in the Book of Beasts, go well together. It’s a daily procedural hexcrawl with Adventure Locations. If you want to play a drama story with life defining personal goals it will not work. You will need an external oracle. Are the Forbidden Land rules designed to support Solo play? If not, what else are you using to support play?
I have played some Forbidden Lands. I don't recall much about the system. I seem to remember liking the push rule as it gave you the option to take a risk to succeed.
