[QUOTE="Evenglare, post: 6101754, member: 63245"] I have been playing D&D for quite a while.. started in 3e... then it just snowballed from there. So i'm pretty accomplished in that aspect, but now im trying my hand at my OWN Zelda version. Now I'm going to get something out of the way right now. I know the stigma behind creating zelda as a tabletop, I know it usually doesnt work out so just save your breath now. I actually have 2 versions I am working on. One with d4's and d6's skill based. The one in question is my d20 version. So here is the basic skeletal system as it sits.... So I have decided to go classless. Classes just don't fit my vision for my game. As such I have 3 ways of gaining abilities. These are my ability trees. I have race ability trees, attribute ability trees (these attributes are based on the 6 sages and their symbols), I also have the 3 virtues (Power, Wisdom, and Courage). Every time you level you gain an ability point. You level by attaining heart containers. HP is basically heart containers x4. Everyone begins with 3 containers so 12 HP and 3 ability points. A beginning character start's off with one race ability, one attribute ability and one virtue ability. Weapons, spells and pretty much any interaction is done by rolling an attribute check vs a virtue (or target number specifies by the DM). There is NO AC. Each weapon will be similarly formatted to 4th edition saying what ability it keys off of , and what virtue it targets. Skills will be held in the same manner, there are NO skill lists just rolling a d20 and applying the attribute mod. It's really aimed to be a rules light system allowing for maximum control over your character and how he/she develops. So Here is the "fire" tree I have so far, to give you a feel of what I'm attempting to go for here. Each heart symbol is the amount of hearts you must have to take the ability (trying to hearken back to zelda 1 in this respect ... heh) Fire Fiery Soul ♥ x3 The spirit of fire burns within your heart that gives you mastery over your weapon. Benefit – Gain a +1 bonus on any weapon attack that uses the fire attribute. Fire Adept ♥ x3 Your fingertips erupt in flame. Benefit – Gain a +2 bonus on any magic spell that uses the fire attribute. Power Attack ♥ x4 You sacrifice finesse to deal additional damage. Benefit- Subtract 2 from your next fire attribute weapon attack. Add 2 to the damage if you hit. Blaze Soul ♥ x5 You feel enlightened from the knowledge of Din. Prerequisite – Fire Adept Benefit- Gain a single level 2 tier spell from a fire attribute spell you know. Extra – You may take this ability multiple times each for a different spell. Knowledge of Earth ♥ x6 You have grown accustomed to your surrounding noticing things others may not. Benefit- Gain a +2 bonus on any knowledge checks dealing with Mountainous or Fiery terrain. In addition you learn any secret benefits that the terrain might have to offer. Body of Ember ♥x6 Your body is resistant to high temperatures. Benefit- Reduce the stamina required to move through hot temperature areas by 1. Brutal Attack ♥x7 Your race overwhelms you allowing massive damage at the expense of accuracy. Prerequisite – Power Attack Benefit- You may subtract up to -5 to add up to +5 to damage dealt with a fire based weapon attack. Flame Initiate ♥x7 Spells of fire come more naturally to you. Prerequisite – Fire Adept Benefit – Reduce the stamina requirement of spells with a fire attribute by 1. Note: This cannot lower the stamina cost to 0. Great Defense ♥ x8 You become proficient with your weapon learning how to parry and defend yourself more effectively. Prerequisite – Fiery Soul Benefit – Gain a +1 DR when wielding a weapon with the fire attribute. Wrathful Intimidation ♥x9 Flames erupt in your eyes when you intimidate your opponents. Prerequisite – Fiery Soul Benefit – Once per scene when you intimidate your opponent you can pick a virtue to reduce for 1 round. Reduce that virtue by 1d6. Inferno Soul ♥ x9 You feel enlightened from the knowledge of Din. Prerequisite – Fire Adept, Tier 2 of Selected Spell Benefit- Gain a single level 3 tier spell from a fire attribute spell you know. Extra – You may take this ability multiple times each for a different spell. Flame Mystic ♥x10 You have gained great accuracy with your fire spells. Prerequisite – Fire Adept, Flame Initiate Benefit – During battle you gain an advantage with a fire spell you cast, however this increases stamina use by 1. Precise Smash ♥x10 You focus your efforts to deliver a devastating attack. Prerequisite – Fiery Soul, Brutal Attack Benefit- In battle you gain an advantage on your attack, however you gain a -1 to all virtues during your next turn. Wreathed in Flame ♥x11 Your body has become accustomed to the extreme heat around you. Prerequisite – Body of Ember Benefit – You take -4 damage every round you are in extreme heat (such as lava). So there is the basics of the system. Now I need to figure out what I'm going to do about the other attributes, and virtues. I have most of the races thought out. It will be directly after skyward sword so there's a lot of free reign in the timeline to discover temples or build them or whatever and quite a few races. I'm pretty excited about it really. So back to my big question is that I need a list of somekind of what modifications a game like pathfinder or D&D makes.. like through class levels , magical items etc etc.... so i can identify what I can do with these attribute trees in a like wise manner.
