Spear size damage

The SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/salamander.htm) shows a Large Noble Salamander doing 1d8 damage with a Longspear which is the same damage die that is shown for his smaller bretheren. As a Large creature shouldn't he be doing 2d6? Or using a 'normal' sized longspear one handed perhaps?

Looks like an oversight to me.I'd give him the 2d6 one, he's definitely using it 2 handed with the +9 to dmg and 22 str.

Yupp. Had a DM once who whooped the floor with my pooooor barbarian ... after the weapon damage correction.
