Spell-like ability question

Use spell-like ability [Standard][AoO: Yes]

Using a spell-like ability works like casting a spell in that it requires concentration and provokes attacks of opportunity. Spell-like abilities can be disrupted. If a combatant's concentration is broken, the attempt to use the ability fails, but the attempt counts as if the combatant had used the ability. The casting time of a spell-like ability is 1 action, making its use a standard action, unless the ability description notes otherwise.

Does the reference to "unless the ability description notes otherwise" include the casting time of the spell the ability might include? For example Call Lightning has a casting time of ten minutes, if one had the spell-like ability to Call Lightning, would it be a standard action, or would it take ten minutes?

All SLA have a standard action casting time, unless it says otherwise in the text. So, in your example, Call Lightning could be cast as a standard action, even though the regular casting time is 10 m.

Note that that only affects casting time, not any other limitations of the spell. With Call Lightning for instance, you could still only call one bolt per ten minutes.

But if you can cast Call Lightning at will as a SLA, that ceases to be a problem :)

Now go read the Nymph's SLA description, and go read how SLAs work.

It's possible to interpret it as casting any druid spell, up to and including 9th level, at will, with a Caster Level of 7.
