Spoilers Spider-man : brand new day

The incursion hasn’t happened yet, so there are no X-men in the Earth-616 universe. That will come in Doomsday.
Yeah, its going to be interesting how they construct the new X-Men since Jean Grey and her sister do exist in the 616 Universe (and Ms Marvel, Namor and Mr Immortal are confirmed as Mutants too). We could get a Madeline Pryor situation.

or maybe Xaviers School does already exist but has been actively cloaked by Professor X

Considering jeans young age I was imagining he is just starting it, and she would be one of his first students
Iirc wasn't it Cyclops, Angel and Beast that made up the original team before the School was founded? I recall Jean was one of the first to enrol at the school.

It was Angel, Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, and Marvel Girl. I do wonder how she’ll fit into Doomsday.

Cyclops was pretty much Xavier's first student. Angel, Beast, and Iceman followed. Marvel Girl joins the school in X-Men #1 after her 4 male classmates are already there but it's pretty clear Xavier had been tutoring her before that given her backstory and degree of control she exhibited when he introduced her to the boys.

Yeah so bottom line, she was certainly one of his early students, so the idea she would come to his school just as he was getting it off the ground is a pretty reasonable way to go.

I thought Jean was an interesting character, but I'm not sure about the streak of cruelty she shows. I don't mean ruthlessness when going after Damage Control, I'm talking about taking over MJ and using her to taunt Peter. That really doesn't feel like Jean – that would be more of an Emma thing.

I chalk it up to youth and anger.

How many of us were outright brats when we were that young...completely unrecognizable to how we are as adults. Throw on that a healthy mix of anger and rage, after all Peter is stopping her from finding her sister, and I can forgive the cruel streak.

Thankfully for the world Jean grows out of it eventually.

FWIW Jean’s characterisation in the comics has varied a bit over the years - her long periods of being dead have made her personality less well established than some of her peers (such as Scott, Hank, Bobby, or even Warren). It doesn’t help that we don’t know if we can count her Phoenix period as her (probably yes, even including the genocide) or as someone else.

I’d say that her personality has jumped around a bit between “team mom” (the inevitable Sue Storm type who keeps everything together) and “dormant to active volcano”. She’s definitely been capable of cruelty and revelling in her power, and not just when she’s being mind controlled.

As my good old friend Pitch Meeting just reminded me, there is that scene where Jean had someone litterally walk in front of a car.

So yeah...that one takes it up a notch, that was "a bit too far"
