Spiked Armor and Str Bonus

In the Equipment chapter of the PHB, it states that one can add spikes to their armor. This does 1d6 (x2 crit) on a successful grapple attack. Do you add your str bonus to the damage? I think yes. What do you think?

The question isn't "do you?". More appropriately, the question is "why wouldn't you?".

Since you add your str modifier to normal grappling damage, why wouldn't you add it to the damage you make with your armor spikes while grappling?
