Spirit monsters / Ethereal template

Hello all, I'm looking for suggestions or pointers for a coming assault on my PCs. In a nutshell, there is a powerful curse levied upon the PCs for breaking an oath to the Proud (a leonine centaur race in Scarred Lands). An NPC blows a magical horn and it summons forth some type of spiritual host to attack the individual characters. I'm envisioning something like a Wild Hunt with a lion-like visage, and probably claws ripping into the characters out of thin air.

Now, my question is for rules to create my assault force. Is there any kind of 'spirit' or 'ethereal' template out there that I could look for. I have no problems modifying dire lions to use against the PCs, but I'm looking to see if there are easy templates to incorporate the intangibility, etc. I'd even go for something to make them like air elementals in some ways (albeit with vastly different descriptors, since they fought air elementals a few months ago).

Complete Divine (from Wizards of the Coast) and The Shaman's Handbook (from Green Ronin) have such templates.

The takes are slightly different, but either should work for what you want to do.

Wouldn't the ghost brute template work for this as well? Can't remember where that was listed though -- I know it was in Dragon, but then reprinted in... MM2? BoVD? FF?

Funny thing about the ghost brute template is that it makes the creature incapable of physically attacking material plane creatures.

May be not quite what you want, but there is a wraith template in the BoVD, as well.
