[SPOILERS] Angel 17/11/2002

My thoughts on this episode, in no particular order:

Cordy and Conner - What... the.... ****?

Kudoes to Wesley for saving Gunn's bacon. There's a lot of friendship between those two - and I hope it can return in some way.

Go, Wesley, with the firepower! It's about darned time someone on that show recognized a gun for a change. Even if it had NO effect whatsoever. I must ask - if firearms have no effect, what do fists and melee weapons hope to accomplish?

Conner's use of the word "Dad" - how jarring! Just as it was meant to be.

Does Fred love Gunn or not? The fact that he would do anything for her drives her away? Huh!

Wesley's sexual obsession with Fred - now THAT was spooky!

Lilah's obsession with Wesley - that's not spooky, it's just sad. She starts out using him, and now she's the bitten puppy. I'm dyin' to know where that leads.

Lastly, I have to reiterate:

CORDY AND CONNER - WHAT THE ****!?!?!?!?

Well, at least he ain't a minor. Coo-coo-ka-choo, Ms. Chase! :D

Yeah well if the world's going to end, I guess some ladies deserve to have a little fun before they die. :)

But Mister Fiery Horns, truly a badass's badass. NOTHING stops this guy. I love it.

There's a lot of character building going on (especially the disturbing Wesley Fred thing and poor little Bitch from Hell finding out how human she really is.)

I loved it when Lorne said "I think I needed a bigger arrow." Shades of Jaws there. My favorite movie.

Overall, Rain of Fire, one HELL of an espisode. :)

I also loved the episode. But I thought I was going to scream when I realized this is probably our last new episode of Angel until after the winter hiatus. :(

And hey, I'm always glad to Vladimir Kulich (Bulwyf from The 13th Warrior) on screen, even if you can't recognize him under the makeup and horns. :)

That was awesome! Wow. Swords, axes, bows, pistols, and a shotgun! Go Wesley. Why didn't he start with the big gun, though?

So what if that big bad demon's only purpose was to get Connor and Cordelia to hook up? Come to earth, raise a little heck, slaughter some people, make fire rain from the heavens, invoke dispair and end-of-the-world-sex, and leave. Because the real evil will be Connor and Cordelia's kid...

No new one next week! But, but, but! Nooo! Darn that Whedon, and his little WB, too.

There's a world of difference between the common conception of "would do anything" and being given hard proof that this person will commit cold blooded murder.

Remember, in the Buffyverse there's an unwritten law - killing demons is okay. Killing humans is not. Gunn crossed that line. The fact that Fred was plannign to do so herself only goes to drive it home. Not only is Gunn willing to cross the line, but in the process he holds up a mirror to herself, and raises the question of what she would have done if Gunn wasn't there....

Well not sure about that...but I do think if there is a kid, it will be evil. It only make sense. Son of two vampires with a half demon girl.

That's a good point, but I think there's a lot more to it than just the killing. Fred must have a ton of dark feelings about the while situation. There's the hollowness of revenge. There's the fact that she tainted Gunn. There's the whole smothering secrecy of it, something they have not told anyone else, not even their most trusted friends. There's the fear of repercussions.

It's a messy, messy situation, and I applaud the show's writers for daring to go there.

As for the big fight, that was pretty cool. There's nothing like shooting demons in the face with a shotgun. Takes me back to my DOOM2 days.
