Strangers In A Strange Land is a full campaign for the historical fantasy role-playing game, Medieval Tales.
This series of 16 short adventures is set in the Western Isles of Scotland during the first half of the 15th century. Together these comprise a continuous campaign in which the player characters find themselves becoming crucial instruments in a "crusade" to stamp out the lingering paganism of the Isles, fighting hidden cults and confronting the secret worship of Mohr-Ri, "The Great King".
Features of this product include:
* A linked series of episodes that take the party from Inverness on mainland Scotland to the Western Isles, with adventures set on Islay, Colonsay, Lochaber, Mull, distant Monach, North and South Uist, Skye, Lewis, the isolated Shiants, and the renowned monastery of Iona.
* Battles against highland raiders, monstrous sea creatures, storm-raising witches, giants, demons, sinister cultists, and the ancient fairy inhabitants of the isles.
* Adventures with themes based on Scottish folk tales, including the cannibal Christie Cleek, the fairy sithchean, the brownie, the shellycoat, the spectral sluagh, the infamous dragon Beithir, and the legendary "queen of winter", Cailleach.
* A blend of history and fantasy: brushes with historical personalities including James I and Alexander of Islay, Lord of The Isles, alongside encounters with whimsical nature spirits, old forgotten gods, and even an excursion into the magical realm of the fey folk.
* Color depictions of important sites as they appeared in the 15th century, including the castle-town of St. Finlaggan, Dun Eibhinn on Colonsay, Castle Calvay, and the mysterious, prehistoric ruins of Cladh Hallan in the Hebrides.
* 13 new creatures, including stat blocks for the ubiquitous "caterans" and "redshanks" of Scotland, as well as monsters and fairies of Scottish folklore, with complete information on how to use them in encounters.
