Suggestion - Stick index

First Post
I know it would be quite a bit of work to keep updated, but there are loads of really cool monsters people are making on this forum and it would be great to have an index of them all so DMs can find appropriate monsters quickly.
Anything I have read and thought "that might be good when my players reach level X" I will have forgotten about/lost by the time it is relevant so I won't use them.

It would have to be a sticky, and then sort the monsters by level and role in the 1st post/ page.

anyone/admin/moderators willing to take on the challenge?

Really, I think that's too ambitious. I mean, I'm all ready working on an index of The_Jester's monster project, and this looks uglyfat. I can't imagine doing an index of Ketery's.

What I suggest, instead of a massive index, is just a list of links to threads themselves. Ketery's, The_Jester's, the monster compendiums threads over on the Gleemax forums, etc.

That would be indeed great and impossible to be done.

My hint: create a delicious account and, as you see something you like, fav and tag it. That's what I do ;)

Wow - all those negative waves Moriarity, all those negative waves.

I am sure it would be a lot of work, but I'm far from convinced it would be either hard or impossible.

What is needed.

Post one:
Links to posts 2-31 For different level threats.

Posts 2-31
A list of links to posts of actual monsters (of that level)
Sorted by role.

Post 32
Links to templates

Then everyone else can post but only details of new links to put in.

"hey link in this new monster it was great, this is the location..."

And so the index can be built up.

Keterys has already indexed his.
Jesters are half indexed already by the nature of his structure. So copying these links in wouldn't be impossible, it would jsut be a matter of sorting them correctly and sanely.

Then if people make single monsters they can write in the index thread to have them indexed.
If people find a problem you can write in the index thread...
The owner of the list can then read the thread and update the list as it goes along.
Any discussion on the thread should be immediately forked or deleted as irrelevant.

Otherwise things are created, and they end up lost completely after a few weeks. Any DM planning a game is not going to haul through 14 pages of backlog to find a good monster on post 34 of a thread on page 8.
DMs would be able to go to an index, look up level 8 Solo threats, and scan the list and maybe print one off for that night.

Isn't this what the Wiki is for. If you see a monster you like copy it to the Wiki.

Saves everyone the hassel of trying to organize threads.

Don't copy, just link. If you copy, you're either asking the poster to update in two places, or you're volunteering to keep the wiki copy up to date.

Wikis make awesome indexes, though.
