Spoilers Supergirl

Supergirl did also, fairly recently, have a TV series that ran for 6 years. And, surprisingly (at least to me), she's actually been played by more people in live action than Wonder Woman.

Between that and her appearance in Superman, I don't think the character being unknown is really the issue with this film.

Her movie flopped years ago.

Her show was CW? Probably not many people watched her show.

If you're going by that, then Supergirl is definitely not in that tier, especially not after having a TV show on a major network (before admittedly moving to a less well known network). Melissa Benoist's take was all over CBS with promotion before moving to join the other Arrowverse shows.

I wouldnt put her in D tier. Shes B at best being generous though I would probably put her in C.

If you've heard of her you probably think she's a knock off superman.

As I said in the comics she's had a lot less content than wonder women apparently.

Shes a reasonably obscure character. I think the main reasons however are timing and being DC. Theyve had 1 hit out of their last 6 or 7 movies.

$618, adjusted for inflation, so basically Superman (2025) numbers.

This. It's not that movies cost too much, it's that the experience is undervalued, probably becauseof COVID and streaming services. One of the reasons Obsession and Backrooms have done so well is that GenZ turned out for those young creators and they value the experience of seeing a horror movie in the theater.

Absolutely Spidey belongs on that top tier list with Superman and Batman.

You also have to adjust the budget for inflation as well.

Interesting when you look at old 80s movies. A lot cost 30-50 million or less and returned 100-400 million adjusted for inflation.

Basically the type of movies Matt Damon has talked about in interviews and the demise of VHS/DvD. VoD is a tiny fraction now.

Whether they watched it or not, there was regular exposure to her for a lot of people from memes and other secondary usage. Also, I wouldn't write off how many saw it who are now in the demographic that are going to see a superhero movie in 2026; the viewership of the CW was very youth-slanted.

Not enough to matter for the box office.

If youre plugged into superhero stuff she's B at best. If not she's C. May of heard of her as a knock off super man.

She hasn't had a hit movie or an inter generational culturally prominent TV show like Wonder Women who also had a billion dollar movie and triple the comics.

Blades a B lister. Had several successful movies but not intergenerational.

Agreed. I really liked it.
