‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’ filming is upsetting inmates at Atlanta Federal Penitentiary – WSB-TV Channel 2 - Atlanta ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’ filming is upsetting inmates at Atlanta Federal Penitentiary
The inmates are on a modified lockdown. Please, I'm trying to be political. It's news about a movie we're all interested in. I feel for the inmates. I'll leave it at that.
When you watch the movie and see a prison scene or two you'll know where it was filmed. Often they use old closed down prisons like they did in The Walking Dead. This is an in use prison. TMZ speculated that it was scenes involving Lex Luthor. That's a pretty safe bet, but it doesn't have to be.

ATLANTA — The latest Superman movie is filming here in Atlanta, and apparently, it is upsetting inmates at the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary.
Part of the movie production is filming at the prison in Southeast Atlanta, and according to TMZ, inmates are being forced to remain in their cells longer than they usually are because of the movie filming there.
According to the entertainment website, the movie is filming in a small section of the prison and should be wrapping soon.
Channel 2 Action News reached out to the Federal Bureau of Prisons about the situation. They sent us the following statement:
“We are honored to play a role in this production and appreciate the opportunity to do so. Staff and inmates provided positive feedback on the possibility of filming prior to agreeing to facilitate this production, and have continued providing positive reactions to its occurrence.
“FCI Atlanta has ensured that disruptions to the daily lives of the inmates and operations of staff have been minimal. FCI Atlanta has maintained inmate programming, and the only minor operational change is that the inmates are being fed prepared hot meals in their respective housing units as opposed to the inmate dining hall. Additionally, inmates are receiving a better meal, consistent with our usual holiday offerings, during filming.
“All inmates continue to have daily access to unit team employees, medical and psychological services, religious services, and other departmental employees, just as they would on any other day. And there has been no disruption to social or legal visitation, or general correspondence with loved ones or legal counsel.
“Executive staff have conducted daily rounds, interacting with both staff and inmates, to address any concerns or questions they might have.
“FCI Atlanta is committed to their mission of being corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment for the inmate population. We are very proud to have this opportunity for our staff and the inmate population to be a part of a classic American movie series.”
