Superman: Still Awesome

Not sure if it is superhero fatigue but I found the movie average. I feel no urge to see it a second time. Nothing stood out. Felt like a watered down attempt at a doing a Christopher Reed movie. I felt disconnect from Superman, Lois, and Luther.

I prefer the Snyder/Cavill Man of Steel 2013. The Cavill / Adams duo works really well, and Michael Shannon was perfect as General Zod.

These characters are the equivalent of Robin Hood and Arthur and other enduring and malleable figures. The "real Superman" is a range, not a thing. Through time it looks more like a widening cone of what the character can be, rather than an arrow shot of definitive nature.

The fair play jacket and phase has been part of Mister Terrific's persona as long as i can remember (which admittedly isn't very far)
Yes, the original Mr T (Terry Sloane in the Golden Age) had it as a motto and written on his stomach. Michael Holt (the current version) took Sloane as his inspiration and had the motto on his sleeves since he was introduced in 1997.

I love the film's version of Mr Terrific and of course part of the point of him is that he's basically the Batman counterpart - the clever sarcastic guy with the gadgets and no powers - removing the need for Bruce to appear and form his half of the World's Finest dynamic for the foreseeable.

One can like multiple versions of character(s), on the ever widening spectrum of a franchise. I loved Lois & Clark, both leads were great. Didn't like Elizabeth Tulloch in Superman & Lois. Loved Welling and Rosenbaum in Smallville but couldn't care less about Kreuk. John Cryer crushed it as Lex Luthor in Supergirl. I didn't like Gene Hackman as Lex, felt out of place (misused and miscast).

Oh interesting, I wasn’t aware of that. Is this the Mister Terrific jacket you were talking about?

I think for me the parts of the 2013 man of steel that are good, are REALLY good. The epicness of the movie is hard to understate, it felt more like a cinematic experience. I do think its a more memorable movie.

I also equally think its not a good superman movie, I do think it fundamentally misses the mark on superman in a way that the new movie gets wholly correct. But in terms of movie making the previous movie I do think is better.
