Superman: Still Awesome

It was a Superman origin story. He was learning how to be a hero; he had never thrown an actual punch before Zod. Wasn't sure what to do with the power of a god, and neither was his dad...because duh. Nothing in our lives would make handling that easy.

I appreciated the updated and more "what would it look like today" aspects of Snyder's film. Very different from Gunn's film, to be sure.
BvS was, for me, the bigger disappointment. MOS posited an interesting Superman with a complex framing, who learned he never wanted to kill because he had to, and he couldn't fight on cities because he saw the horror it caused. But that was squandered for a story that should have been 5 mov8es and 10 years down the line.

Yeah, the folks who greenlit BvS had clearly really liked Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, not understanding the power of that story was that it was a payoff to decades of groundwork, not a place to start.

Never forget that when Kevin Smith was approached before superman returns was made, they wanted him to put in a giant robot spider for superman to fight and he turned it down.
