AI/LLMs SWURPG — A new and free Star Wars tabletop RPG (passion project)

With FFG's Star Wars RPG line out of print, I started building a free alternative for my own table — and it's grown into a full system, so I wanted to share it with people who actually run games.

SWURPG (the Star Wars Universe Roleplaying Game) is its own d20 system, not a 5e reskin: it takes the tactical depth of Saga Edition and pairs it with a 5e-style on-ramp. Concretely — a Force-point economy rather than spell slots, six core classes that branch into advanced subclasses at level 3 (Saga base→prestige), a weapon and armor modification system, and an all-active-rolls skill model (no passive perception — every contest is a roll). Full character creation, combat, the Force, gear, starships, and GM guidance, levels 1 to 20.

The heart of it is three free tools:
  • Character Builder — swurpg.com/character-builder — not a level-1 toy: it runs the full ruleset to level 20, auto-applying every species trait, class feature, weapon and armor modification, bio-implant, and Force power — with the modifier stacking, advantage/disadvantage, proficiency-vs-expertise, and the size and droid-chassis rules all handled correctly. The math stays transparent (expand any weapon for its full attack-bonus breakdown), and you can cloud-save, share a build link, or export a print-ready character sheet.
  • Starship Builder — swurpg.com/starship-builder — build and customize ships from the chassis up: weapons, upgrades, and ship traits, validated as you go.
  • Map Builder — swurpg.com/map-builder — lay out tactical grid battle maps and print them to scale for the table.
Behind the tools there's a real content base: 106 playable species (each with its own traits, not just stat tweaks), six classes with fifteen advanced subclasses, full weapon/armor/gear and Force-power catalogs, a bestiary, and a growing set of adventures — plus free printables (a GM screen and the complete Core Rulebook PDF) and a Star Wars name generator.

It's a fan project, completely free, and runs in the browser with no account needed (sign-in just adds cloud saves). It's actively updated, so I'd genuinely value feedback, rules nitpicks, or "I wish it handled X" from people who run a lot of games — happy to get into the weeds in the thread.

Sooooooo... We're just not worrying about IP law anymore?

I appreciate your enthusiasm for Star Wars, and I definitely prefer the part of the fandom that actually enjoys it and builds with it rather than the side that spends all their time complaining. And this looks like a very impressive start.

But, well...

Good luck.

Maybe file of the serial numbers?
It's a fan project, and no money is being charged. It's fine. This is not the first of it's kind, for Star Wars and other franchises, and it's perfectly legal and Lucasfilm/Disney isn't likely to worry about it.

Now if @swurpg.official starts asking for money . . . that's different.

There are already multiple other free fan SW RPGs.

I like the haracter builder so far. Sad that there is no Umbaran or Ryn, two of my favorites to play, but I have some humans i love playing in Saga. On to classes!
