Dwarven Forge's Game Tiles Kickstarter (like regular Dwarven Forge 3D game terrain - but you can actually afford it!) looks like it's about to join the million-dollar club. With 8 days to go, it has reached nearly $900,000 as I write this (from an initial goal of just $50,000 - I say "just" but even that's a huge amount of money!); there's some cool stretch goals for $900K and $1M.
- My little Twitter contest last week was so popular that I'm doing it again! Last week I said that I'd give a freebie to a random Twitter follower; the winner was Justin Gillies, who chose the 700-ish page compiled War of the Burning Sky adventure path, which is already winging its way via the postal system to him and giving his mail carrier a hernia! This week - same offer. On Sunday I'll pick a random Twitter follower and that person will win for free either WotBS Compiled, or the first five ZEITGEIST adventures in softcover (full colour) format.
- Game Design 106 from Challenger RPG deals with overpowered abilities.
- Southern Oracle takes a look at the new TV show Defiance and how easy it is to adapt to a D&D campaign.

- Larry Elmore wants to release the Sovereign Stone setting for the Pathfinder RPG. "Sovereign Stone is an epic fantasy tale of mortals struggling to cope with the immense power of an artifact given them from the gods. The gripping conflict has been recounted in a novel trilogy by the best-selling author duo of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (Dragonlance, The Death Gate Cycle), as well as in vivid paintings featuring Mr. Elmore’s distinct, breathtaking style." There's an (already funded) Kickstarter for the setting originally created by Larry Elmore, Margaret Weis, and Tracy Hickman. The project is being run by a company called Timeout Diversions (which says it already produces the world's #1 pro-wrestling RPG; though to be fair that doesn't exactly sound like a crowded niche!) Stretch goals include adventures, fiction, prints, and more. Oh, and there's a video blooper reel of Larry Elmore recording the Kickstarter pitch:

- New Press Releases:
- After a slew of D&D Next playtest reports, The Chamber of Mazarbul is back to Pelgrane Press' upcoming 13th Age RPG, with a look at improvised mass combat.
- Roleplayers Chronicle also tackles mass combat - plus takes a quick look at technology which helps us run such things.
- The Angry DM doesn't like boxed text in published adventures. Fortunately, he suggests an alternative.
- 1d20 Shades of Grey isn't a poorly-written erotic fiction novel; it's an article on Sly Flourish about partial successes with skill checks in D&D (and as currently done in Dungeon World). It's an interesting article, and well worth the read.
- Kobold Press reports on a Ladies Pathfinder Night in Seattle (you know, that town where ALL THE RPG COMPANIES ARE!)
- On Gnome Stew you can read an article about The Perfect Plan; while it's often said that no adventure survives contact with the players, occasionally everything goes perfectly.
- There's a review of Shadowlands: Secrets of the Tainted (for Pathfinder) over at Game Knight Reviews.
- John R Troy is a long-time colleague of the late Gary Gygax. Clash of Echoes has an extensive interview with him.
