Taking same daily twice and warlord dalies

Maybe it's just me, but I think most, if not all the 1st level warlord dallies are better than the 5th level ones.

So

  1. Does anyone else think that?
  2. Can you take the same daily twice? So could I have "lead the attack" as both a 1st and 5th level daily?

Nope, you can't take the same power twice.

But you can take lower-level powers in place of higher-level ones, so if there's another daily 1st-level warlord exploit you like, you could take it instead of the 5th-level one.

Personally, I like Villain's Nightmare (warlord 5), due to aiming for Reflex instead of AC.
But ... the effect is nothing special ... it's just good for me 'cos every character I make is a damage-dealing machine.

I find Stand the Fallen to be quite strong, and well worth the L5 daily slot. Guaranteed healing for the bulk of the party is very nice.

There really isn't a first level daily I would take instead of the fifth level Stand the Fallen for my dragonborn inspiring warlord. It kind of depends on the build and the party. In a party with a cleric and a paladin, a tiefling tactical warlord may go for Lead the Attack and Bastion of Defense, and forgo the 5th level dailies.

I know in a 16th level test game we were playing, the rogue didn't want to replace his lower level dailies with a 15th level daily. It does sometimes happen that lower level abilities are more favorable for a certain character.

One of the 5th level walord dailies - Stand the Fallen - is good, especially if you're the party's only leader - close burst 10 healing that includes you, that's pretty nice. The other two suck pretty hard, one grants a save - yippee, Sacred frick'n Flame does that, and Shake it Off does it better - the other basicly does nothing. That's Villain's 'Nightmare' (more propperly Villain's Infrequent Slight Annoyance) - it lets you cancel the adjacent target's 'walk' or 'run' action as an immediate interrupt. It doesn't stop the enemy from shifting, so he can just shift, then move. He's probably going to do that, anyway, since he doesn't want to draw the OA for moving, in the first place. And 'walk' and 'run' are pretty specific, so, for instance, any power that combines movement with an attack (and lots of skirmishers have such powers) isn't affected, teleportation isn't stopped, etc.

But, no, you can't take the same daily (like, oh, Lead the Attack) twice. You can take a 1st level daily instead of a 5th, but unless you're in a party with two clerics who both have Beacon of Hope, Stand the Fallen is probably better than whatever your second choice for a level 1 daily would be.
