Maybe, but we won't be eaten by cannibals...

Side Note: DNR tattoos are generally not considered legally effective. If you want an enforceable DNR, you’re going to have to write it down on something other than your body.

Second Note: even fully legal DNRs sometimes get ignored.

I have a couple, and while I regret some details of the first one (placement could have been better), I'm happy with what I have and am looking to get more. Each one does have a meaning for me (one's for me, one's for my best friend, one is for my family, one is for my values), I don't think tattoos have to have personal meanings. "I thought it would look cool" is a 100% valid reason to get a tattoo.

Looking to get a new one to honor a sibling soon.

I don't see the appeal. I can't really fathom being so convinced about something to go through the pain and healing process needed to keep it forever on my skin. Friends and significant others could end up distant and even enemies. Achievements that feel gigantic could turn meaningless in the grand scheme of things, or even turn out to be colossal dumb mistakes. Even ones own children could end up changing their name, multiple times.... I'd rather keep myself malleable.
I would never have a name tattoo, any more than I would have a face.

Faces are hit or miss for me. Cartoon faces can be fine, realistic faces rarely look good, and fade poorly. Text is also a no for me, though kanji would be more acceptable.

I have a mix of colour and black & white work. Colour looks better on open skin, black & white for hairer parts.

I've heard people say "you always regret your first tattoo," no matter what it is or when you get it
I got my first tattoo when I was 17 at 4AM at a tattoo party. I didn't necessarily regret it but have since had it covered. I have sleeves and kind of want more, but not sure where to get another without needing to balance it out with another.

I got a tattoo in the mid-90s on a whim, though I knew what I wanted just happened to decide to get it one day as a walk-in at a reputable tattoo parlor. The artist charged by the hour and had another appointment after me, so it wasn't done in the first sitting. I had to go back. But it was unfinished for well over a year and once I finally got it done it looked strange and took a while to get used to.

The guy who did most of my tattoos used to only take appointments by phone every other first of the month between 6PM-8PM. I spent many an hour hitting redial to get through. I remember hearing stories of people saying they got through but then accidently hung up and hit redial when it started ringing. The few days leading up to your appointment was always exciting and the day of was like a mecca as at the time he was about 40 miles outside of the city proper.

I miss those days and now I want to go get a tattoo.
