Tell me about your experiences with StartPlaying

My wife was laid off recently, and I'm considering running some games on StartPlaying as a side hustle.

I already run 5E or Shadowark once a month via Discord and play Pirate Borg about twice a month the same way, although all of that without VTTs.

Has anyone here run games on StartPlaying? Any experiences, good or bad, doing it?

Likewise, anyone here a regular user of it as a player?

I already run two games for friends, so I don't really have time to run anything else. But the game I joined because I wanted to actually play Daggerheart instead of just run it has gone well. It's the longest game with randos on the web I've been a part of, and I've tried 6 or 7 times over the years with very little success.

I suggest you don't charge too much as a new GM, or too little (people will see that as a quality issue). $15 seems the sweet spot.

I'm curious as well. I've been thinking about starting a play-by-post (email) game for a zero or cheap sum to get my feet wet and get games in the only way I can. I don't have the availability to put dedicated time aside for more games, and I'm not really sure what the take rate will be with email, so I'm really curious how it'll go, but I figure I should just try and see. I'm waffling between 13th Age or Cypher right now. (Cypher seems more suited for PBEM.)

I don't want to join more discords, so I can't really get any good information from their community that way, but if anyone has comments or anything, I'm also interested in hearing about StartPlaying (generally or specifically to my problem).
