I'm actually finding mine to be a little bit dull to be honest. Rolling on the wild surge table has been pretty rare despite the various DM's I've had who have been generous with Tides of Chaos, simply because I so rarely need to cast more than a cantrip in a combat. And even when I do, DM's can't use Tides of Chaos every turn otherwise I'd be getting advantage on just about every roll, and the 1 in 20 chance has never come up once.

The only time it really made an impact was when I rolled a 01 after using Tides of Chaos and casting a 1st-level spell. The subsequent rerolls summoned two unicorns and sent me to the astral plane. Other than that, some pretty music and a huge amount of healing that I didn't need.

We fought a cultist leader, who the Barb PC shoved into a pyre, then a naked halfling walked out of the fire shooting scorching rays.

The cultist leader was a -human-sorc-wild mage- who rolled a 91-92 on the chart the previous round and got reincarnated as a halfling after dieing in the pyre. :D

First combat ever with new characters for the Dragon Queen campaign -- the wild mage surged because of Tides and killed most of our party with a fireball.

It was actually just a practice combat before we started the campaign, so no harm done, but it was hilarious.
