Temple Quarter

Voadam

Legend
I usually have a mild interest in different pantheons and god books and the Temple Quarters pdf book is on sale right now so I'm considering buying it. I've read Crothian's review and the little blurb about the product as well as the sampling of the rituals.

Anybody have it and able to tell me more about the book? Is the pantheon interesting? Are there good stories about D&D gods that could be used as legends in game or just interesting reading? Is there stuff in there to get you inspired to throw this into a city?

Edit: here is the link to the product on sale: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2657&affiliate_id=17596

Well, I am getting ready to purchase it myself.. So if you want to wait a few days I will let you know.

I like Chris West's maps and besides, I have the first installment of this series. (Plus it is on sale!) *chuckles* Truth is I wanted 2 PDF's that were under the 7 dollar marker even added up so grouping it all together.

After I read it I will look for this again if you want

I don't know if there is one.. frankly I hope they wait until all the Quarters are complete and then print a full book.

Shackled and Liberty.. 2 complete cities with Chris West maps (Does it get any better?)

It is kind of ironic because for 30 years of this game I thought mapping did nothing for the game really, until I started keeping up with his work. Now, if it has his maps I buy it without a second thought.

I bought the thieves quarter book and liked it enough to buy the temple book, they are meant to fit together, BTW. So I would say get it, you'll be able to find many uses for it, plus it is the usual quality of the publisher.

I just got it, so cannot give you a comprehensive opinion, but I will say that the temples/faiths are described in great detail, including floorplans, notable NPC's, and their place/standing in the poltics of the city. Also typical ceremonies and rituals, and other worshiper info.

All the maps ( West ) are just incredible.

I was kind of hoping that the pantheon would correspond to the Book of the Righteous gods as detailed in that book, but I keep forgetting that Green Ronin is only the publisher - different authors.

That said, the Pantheon of gods shouldn't be TOO much trouble to use correlate them over to FR/GH/Etc.. There are some notes for using the city with Freeport.

Here are the main gods - definitely some interesting "mythology" so far:

1) Lod - Father of the Gods ( Storms, Mountains, Law, Battle ) LN
2) Sem - ( Strength, Earth, War ) CG
3) Vig - ( Power , Chaos, Luck )CG
4) Tur - (Intellect, cunning, learning, exploration ) N
5) Apon (Sun, Fire, Plants) NG
5) Ilaia - Swiftness, Roads, Rivers (LN)
6) Syrnia - Wisdom, Earth, Law, Safety (LG)
7) Lani- Beauty, Luck, Animals(CG)
8) Umit - Order, Knowledge, Wives & Mothers (LG)
9) Osai -Healing, Mercy, Fortune, Shelter (NG)
10) Mol - Shadows, Darkness (N)
11) Ur-Argo - Dragons, Sorcerers (LG)
Street Shrines - less popular gods:
Angrom - dwarves
Ballyclack - Gnome
Brosti - Hearth
Carduci - Herbs
Dinra- Wealth
Esmera - Sea
Kraug - Orc
Marin - Merchants
Tanio - Halfling
Rija- Nobility
Ulariel - Elf
Lolga - Earth

I'm looking forward to the other books in this series and the huge comprehensive city they will represent. But using these temples in your own fill in the blank fantasy city would be easy.

Buy both of them. They are very good. HEY GAME MECHANIC DUDES!!! WHERE IS HE REST OF THE TOWN??? I WANT TO SPEND MY MONEY ON YOUR PRODUCT!!!

;)

They are both good, indeed. However, I felt that Temple Quarter suffers from a "too much of the same thing" problem as this quarter of the city doesn't have the variety of different kinds of locations that Thieves' Quarter had. As a collection of temples and religions it's good; as a piece of a city it's a little lacking in my opinion. However, the two products do go well together.

Good point, and I agree - not much else is covered in the book for that region of the city except the Temples. I guess they always eat at the Temple Cafeteria, and shop in the other parts of town!
