Bagels have a different type of flour and are boiled before baked. Donuts use a sweetened dough and are fried. It’s really like comparing a small loaf of bread to a fried pastry.
Donuts use a different type of dough than Bagels, but Donuts don't have to be fried. This is one major difference between Krispy Kreme type donuts and Dunkin type donuts. Krispy Kreme bakes them rather than fries them. Makes for a healthier (if one can even say such a thing exists) type of donut. It's also a difference between the type of South Eastern donut Krispy Kreme is descended from, and the NorthEastern/Midwest US type of Donut Dunkin makes.
I know that cake donuts can be baked but every Krispy Kreme I’ve been in has them fried.![]()
The conveyer belt is when they drop out of the fryer and then through the glaze waterfall.Ah, my bad then. I thought that when they were on the conveyor belt they were being baked (no oil is on them that I can see) rather than fried.
Cake donuts are usually going to end up having more sugar and fat than a raised donut will, at KK in particular the cake donuts are worse in just about every measure.Donuts use a different type of dough than Bagels, but Donuts don't have to be fried.
