The Flail of Sharded Flesh is a Large Flail that glistens with a sick and pulsing aura of anguish and pain. Once per day when the flail connects with a medium or smaller creature the head of the flail detonates into adamantine fragments, and then immediately constricts. This deals 10d6 damage and impales the victim, thereby making them part of the weapon itself, writhing and tortured. A successful reflex save (DC 25) negates the impaling and halves the damage.
Characters that are impaled take 3d6 bludgeoning damage for each strike the wielder of the Flail makes. Once the character takes a total of 50 additional damage their body tears free of the weapon and lands in a random square 1d10 squares away, taking 1d6 damage for each square the character travels away from the wielder. While encapsulated by the Flail the character is nauseated, though a DC 25 fortitude save negates the nausea. Even if they make their fortitude save they may take only standard actions, and must make a DC 35 concentration check to cast any spells. Characters may wrench themselves free with a DC 30 strength check, but doing so deals an additional 10d6 damage and hurls the body as normal.
Players struck by the Flail while it has a body impaled take an additional 2d6 damage if the body impaled is a small body, and an additional 3d6 if the impaled body is a medium body.
Otherwise the Flail of Sharded Flesh is a +3 Unholy Flail.
