THE HEROES OF DYVERS CHAPTER 7: CLARE'S ERRAND

GM:
Since Kamen has not replied in 6 days, I will reply on his behalf.

Kamen gives Tam a boost, and the halfling crawls up 18 feet into the 48 ft. tube. 30 ft. remain. So far, so good. No traps in the first 18 feet. You notice something gleaming and glittering at the top of the tube. Could it be another magical mithril key?

TAM: Do you want to go another 10 ft. up?

OOC: I actually did reply, same day..with hand-ladder and bunching legs and 'How high do you want to go?' I now see it didn't go through for some reason

GM: Makes some secret rolls...

You are now 28 feet into the tube. So far, so good; you're using a "L" crawl position to navigate upwards.
Would you like to move up another ten feet?

Tam, as you crawl further up, you notice a tiny lever on the side of the tube, placed about where you would need to place your foot to achieve optimal balance. If you weren't so highly skilled, you could have easily missed it. You eyeball the base of the lever, and place one of your small spikes into it, causing the mechanism to seize up, effectively disarming it.
GM: Excellent rolls!! Search 34, Disarm 32, masterfully done!

With the trap disarmed, Tam is easily able to grab the key which is fastened to the top of the tube by a thin string which he is easily able to cut. The "key" is a small wand, made of redwood, with a mithril cap on each end. You suspect that this wand can be made to expand to the size of a staff, based on the runic markings you find on it. However, how exactly this can be achieved is beyond you. It involves somatics and verbal commands, and while you understand the concept, your skillset does not include the practical application aspect of such an operation.

Tam calls to the others below:
"Found something! On my way back down."
And with the "wand/key", Tam returns to the dead hydra's chamber where the rest of the HoD (Heroes of Dyvers) await.

Kamen looks over the body of the hydra looking for the essence of the creature, given that the heart is destroyed. He traces the heads to the common center and cuts off a chunk.

Speaking in a weird, deep and grating tongue to the creature, he devours the piece while Tam is exploring the tube.

"Zvijeri od mnogo glava i zmajske krvi. Tvoj dah je bio smrt. Tvoja bit je bila stijena. Bila si gnjev planine, sada si njezin prah. Od zemlje si sazdana, zemlja te uzima natrag.

Tvoja esencija kamena prelazi u mene.Tvoja čvrstoća postaje moja snaga. Tvoj duh je moj duh."

Kamen sits on the bare floor, crosses legs, and places hands on the ground in wild stone meditation. He goes immobile.

"Kamen ne diše. Kamen ne krvari. Kamen traje. U tišini divljine, postajem nepomičan. Počivaj u temelju svijeta."

Tam says nothing and just watches Kamen.
Part of him is in awe of Kamen's actions.
Part of him is scratching his head, a little bit confused as to "why all the fuss" over a dead hydra.
