Saw the movie and enjoyed it.

Is it a popcorn flick? Yes it is.

But, treat it as what it is and it is an enjoyable couple of hours. Yes, lots of CGI, but generally well done in my opinion. Nothing that really took me out of the film.

Cheers :)

This is true...from a certain point of view.

Ultimately in raw numbers yes it did weaker than Solo. But, in the post pandemic world where all movies have suffered (if you look at memorial day releases over the last several years Mando and Grogu have done quite well) its doing well. And most importantly....looking at its budget.

This is honestly how Disney should be doing these movies (Marvel pay attention). The recognition is, these are the billion dollar franchises they once were, and finally they are budgeting as that is the case. So in budget terms Mando is doing just fine, it had a weak friday but had a lot of surge the rest of the weekend, and completely on track to make solid money.

Solo on the other hand was budgetted and marketed in the billion dollar SW movie era, and was seen as a massive flop. Mando was set up on a more conservative platform, and is doing well.
It‘s doing well for any franchise besides Star Wars. The fact that the standards had to be dropped, and some media critics are twisting themselves into pretzels to finnd a reason to declare the movie a success should really tell you everything. One the most iconic film franchises dumbed down to be on par with Enchanted. Which is just fine for any family driven franchise, but not for Star Wars. Which shows just how badly they have butchered this franchise. In the end that‘s probaly the best that they can hope for now. They will make lower budget films that make slimmer profits, but heavily rely on merchandise sales driven by the films, and renewed interest in the show to make up that gap.

Saw it tonight, enjoyed it . . . but the pacing felt rushed, like an 8-episode season compressed into a 2-hour movie (yes, I know that's pretty much what happened).

While I love the Anzellans, there was too much jerky puppetry and stop-motion in the movie, it took me out of the film on several moments.

Rotta the Hut sounded too . . . well, human. He didn't sound like a hutt. The Twins did. The voice acting for Rotta didn't feel very sincere and convincing either. The character arc, a depressed young man trying to escape the shadow of his evil father and falling in with gangsters who mean him no good, was a good one . . . but Rotta didn't sell me on it. I did enjoy the callback to Rotta's appearance in Clone Wars, although it didn't make a lot of sense (when the Twins showed Mando Rotta's most recent pic).

I loved Zeb having an important role, I loved it was the same voice actor from Rebels . . . but his face was too CGI and was jarring.

I have mixed feelings about Mando getting another Razorcrest . . . glad he still has the Naboo fighter parked on the lawn.

I think, take the exact same story and stretch it out over 8 episodes . . . it would rock!

Overall, despite my criticisms, I enjoyed the hell out of the movie. But it certainly doesn't rank among my favorite Star Wars films.
