The Silo (SPOILERS)

On another note: I've just finished book 1 of the series, I decided I couldnt wait for season 4 in next summer, I had to read the books to know what is going on. But the book is very different. Its a complete different atmosphere. Way more depressive, introspective, sometimes almost fever-dream like, especially in the early chapters. The books and the show are so different that reading the book is still exciting even if you've already watched the show and I bet after I finished the books season 4 will still be exciting.
I read the first book 10-15 years ago. I always wanted to read the sequels but for one reason or another never got around to it. I was told that the last Season covered all of Book 2, so finally I gave it a try.

Without spoilers, If you found the difference in tone and story between Book 1 and the first 2 seasons striking, the following novels diverge even further, almost like with Foundation. There are however some bits in Book 2 that could potentially spoil some of Season 4 stuff, assuming the show will follow the same overall narrative.

Nothing. I'm asking you not to in the future. It happens all the time on this board, where people discuss the books. I'm merely asking. That's all I did.

Not sure how anything I said was offensive, but sorry it came across that way.
As I said you are just assuming I am breaking spoiler rules without knowing me and are preemptive moderating me. I think thats patronizing and rude. But this is probably also a case of tone and intention not coming across as well in text based communication.

Nice! I dont mind potential spoilers for season 4 - I am planning to read book 3 anyway. But its cool to hear the adaption is so different. Book 2 is already reserved in my local library.

I think this shows why the series is a very good adaption - because it is diverging so much from the books. The books would be very hard to adapt to television if you would attempt them 1:1. The parts feel more like vignettes from different characters, events are often just hinted at or remembered or reflected. They are quite introspective. Many characters are only mentioned before they suddenly appear and disappear again. This would've not worked at all in TV.

The TV series did IMO the right moves to flesh each character out, give them subplots, something to do besides the main plot. And it lightens up the mood a bit - which is a good choice. In the book the bleak tone works, but in a TV show it would too bleak to follow for multiple seasons. The books definitely make me appreciate the show adaption more while also being quite good and perfectly enjoyable on their own. Reading recommendation for everyone who enjoyed the show.
