AD&D 1E The worst thing about AD&D, and boy is it annoying

Probably worth considering bumping each die type, except the d20, up one step. Makes the weakest characters slightly more robust on average, makes the weakest attacks more interesting.

The only place I see where this would break down is barbarian hit points. Bumping them up to a d20 hit point die is way too good. Maybe give them 2d8 hit points for each level instead.
2d8? Why not 4d4...

Why do so many of yours have blood on them? I'm pretty sure you're not actually meant to use them as caltrops.
The folks from the Triangle Agency would like a moment of your time. :P
... with the mighty d12, it doesn't get enough love in DnD.
Yup.

Hmmn...
d12's numbered 1-4 three times?

3d4 vs. 2d6 (etc.)
So you don't have to worry about adding any bonuses from an ability score?

Lovely, lovely caltrops. 😁

One of my house rules for Planescape is an encounter table with the option of rolling different dice (d20/d8+d12/5d4)

The Lady of Pain is, of course, Number 1.
  • Roll 9d4. If there are no 3's, The Lady of Pain appears.

One of the d4s has an open air bubble. It is NOT balanced!

To answer OP's question about how many d4 are in my dice bag, 12. Why? Not sure. May have dug some out of those "Oddball dice bowls" many FLGS have on the counter because they matched the style I had settled on.

Hmmm... I have about a dozen of the pyramid shaped D4s scattered around my assorted dice bags, and a couple of those '8 siders with 1-4 printed twice' ones...

I'd call many other things in AD&D more annoying than d4s. That said, I dislike the tetrahedral ones as well. So I'm gonna once again evangelize for the 12-sided d4.

I got myself a bunch of these babies in 2 different colors and haven't looked back.
