D&D General This week on HOW-I-RUN-IT.com: Revisions to "Isle of the Abbey"

I put up a quick post today with our revised version of Witch Bolt we've been using in my 5E games (and why I revised it). I think it is fair to say the spell kinda stinks as written.

Today on HOW-I-RUN-IT.com it is DRAGON MAG MONDAY and that means I cover Dragon Magazine #112 (August 1986). There are a couple of interesting tidbits in this otherwise dud of an issue, including a little bit on the article I quoted in this contentious thread - "D&D Assumptions Ain't What They Used To Be" - including excepts from the two Forum letters I mention in that first post of that same thread where issues often attributed to the current era come up nearly 40 years ago.

I started a separate thread for this topic, but in case it gets buried or you are following this thread and miss the other, I posted about my Vanity Frankenstein 5E Project over on HOW-I-RUN-IT.com

Inspired by @M.T. Black's Dragon Reflections series, I have returned to my own series reviewing the issues of Dragon I have in my personal collection after a very long hiatus.

This week's Dragon Mag Monday, examines Dragon Magazine #113 from September 1986. I was just starting my sophomore year of HS and had been playing D&D for 3 years at this point.

Near final edits on the long delayed next installment of Revenants of Saltmarsh, in which I share how I revised the adventures from Ghosts of Saltmarsh. The next one covers "Isle of the Abbey," and the three previous ones covering, "The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh," "Danger at Dunwater," and "Salvage Operation" can be found here.

The latest installment of "Revenants of Saltmarsh," in which I share the adaptation and updates of adventures in Ghosts of Saltmarsh as I ran them for one or both of my groups. This post is about running "Isle of the Abbey" and includes a download link for a PDF of the full article + stat blocks.

As usual for these posts, it assumes you own Ghosts of Saltmarsh and have read the adventure in question.
