I wonder how Indy will fair on it's 2nd week? It's not a bad movie, but I don't think the crowds are gonna line up to see it again.

Iron Man on the other hand, continues to amaze me. I never imagined it would do this well, let alone become the biggest movie of the summer season.

Nice to see Prince Caspian holding on. Hope to see it next week.

Speed Racer on the other hand... Blah. Maybe the Wachowski's ought to return to penning comics.

Would be a shame. Speed Racer is downright revolutionary. n it's case, box office != quality.

Also, I finally caught Iron Man last night. Good film. It's no Speed Racer --and yes, I'm being serious-- but a good nonetheless.

Well I've not seen the movie in question, so I really can't judge. But where the Wachowski's are concerned, I find critics are more or less on the mark when the bad reviews start rolling in.

For the record, I still haven't forgiven the brothers for the crapfest that was The Matrix Revolutions. So you'll have to pardon me if I don't pony up my hard earned cash for their latest offering, which has been repeatedly slammed by the critics.

Given its initial numbers I would have initially predicted it would be number 1 next week. However given the word of mouth I am now expecting a 60% drop which will give Sex and the City a good shot at number 1.

Prince Caspian is not fairing quite so well. not badly but not great. I expect it to fall behind Iron Man next week.

The only thing keeping it in the top 10 is that there have been less than 5 medium to hight budget movies to come out since its release.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Iron Man topped 300 million domestically. Looks like it will be the Transformers of this year. I wonder if it will be able to hold Indy at bay and still be on top for worldwide total after next weekend? I know that given a choice between seeing Indy or Iron Man again, I'd go with the latter. Anyway, Marvel and Paramount's execs ought to consider sending a "thank you" flower basket to Warner Brothers for having Speed Racer come out a week after Iron Man.

Speaking of Speed Racer, it appears to be a serious contender for bomb of the year. A would-be blockbuster taking 3rd place in its opening weekend, and which then keeps being surpassed by a romantic comedy... The Wachowskis have clearly lost the magic of the first Matrix.

Just wait till this week when it will fall behind Made of Honor and Baby Mama in the rankings. Who knows, Harold and Kumar may eventually outgross it as well.

Why don't you see Speed Racer --on video, at the very least-- before concluding that? Or are we only talking money here? If so, my bad...
