Which 2 spells did they pick for their level 6 feature? What spells make them so strong in their oppinion?

I ask because for me Lore bard really does not sound too interesting, especially when you reach level 10+ since the level 6 feature becomes a bit redundant with 2024 bard.

Lvl 6 feature comed online at 6 though. Later on its still two more spells.

Obvious. Alot of games don't hit 10. 6-10 is still 8-20 sessions probably.

And if they do its several months to half a year maybe more to get there. Thats a lot of early access.

Start thinking of level 6 as a capstone for most groups.

I suspect D&D essentially being a 1-10 game has been the default for a long long time its just become semi official recently.

Eloquent bard was tuned very high in 5.0. It was generally regarded as S tier. Over glamour which is the new S tier one.

If youre using it on top of the 5.5 base class youre good.

Its the bard equivalent of a twilight cleric.
Geez, it's almost like Tasha's was setting a new standard that 5.5 kept going with. Which was my point. People banning Tasha's because it's "5.0" and thus "weak" don't know what they are talking about.

Every Tasha subclass that's been reprinted (clockwork sorcerer, aberrant sorcerer, fey wanderer, psi knight, soul knife, stars druid, mercy monk, glory paladin, phantom rogue, and blade singer) have done so with either few changes or slight nerfs.

Sure, but the 2 bards mentioned which love lore are both level 15. Thats is especially why I am surprised.

I agree most parties will never reach level 11, but I personally just absolutely hate to have something picked for which I know it scales badly/will not be needed at some point.

2 more spells prepared is just not that much when you already have 18 (level 15) even level 10 with 15 its not that much needed. More is always better, but your 16th and 17th best choice are just not as impactfull as your first and second.

Similar the lore bards 3 extra skills. You normally as a bard already have 6 and half proficiency on the others. So getting half proficiency (rounded up) on the 7.-9. Best skills is just not that important.

Kind of true but thats on top of everything else. And they're already tuned very high.

Because theyre bad at damage and can be subtle (buffing everyone else) alot of people haven't noticed.

5.5 metas also changed a aI think it rewards bards. Probably the best actual class in the game both power wise, newbie friendly and the X factor of tun.

Just cherry picking 1 or two key spells is very powerful. Heres my bard with conjure celestial or whatever.

Alot of players dont think like we do and we are both veterans of multiple editions. That alone puts us in a small minority.

Thanks to WotC not fixing the subclass progression (maybe 6e) I consider all features above level 12 irrelevant. Unfortunately, that means most subclasses only have one or two features that PCs will get to see, and those have to carry the theme though.
Fortunately bards have very strong subclass abilities and usually 2 at level 3.

I disagree. 2 more prepared spells are great. And still a head start on spells outside base bard spells.

I am not sure if Tashas set a new standard I think it just started trying to make all the classes and subclasses more equal in strength. Before tashas there are also some good subclasses (Samurai Fighter, Whisper bard, gloom stalker ranger etc). , its just that it is a lot more mixed. And also Tashas felt like it especially pushed subclasses of rather weaker classes as part to balance them with other classes better.

Monk is a funny example in 5.5 because its the only class where the subclass got a smaller power budget. Thats why the Mercy Monk had to be nerfed. It unfoetunately had some really bad subclasse sin 5e but with the low power budger in 5.5 they should still be fine
