There is no great filter. If you plug reasonable numbers into the drake equation you get an estinate of about 200000 intelligent species in the observable universe, or about 20000 within the hubble volume (Assuming that there are about 200 sextillion stars, that 1 in a million stars has a planet capable of developing life, that out of planets capable of developing life about one in a million actually has, and that out of planets with life about one in a million will develop intelligent life, giving us an estimate that one star in every pentillion will have intelligent life).

For context, this is about one in every 50 galaxy superclusters

I actually just watched a video (Cool Worlds; great astronomy channel) that made the argument that the fact that we have NOT been destroyed by von Neumann probes is strong evidence that we are alone in the universe.
