Has anyone seen or have one of the 3 ring binders? I have one like this one, but this one is in better shape. I took the few monster pages I had out and use it to house my 3rd edition miniatures stat cards. It's still technically a monstrous compendium.View attachment 441242

I had one at one time, but I got rid of it while purging my collection a few years back. It's not like I'll ever play 2e again.

I remember it from back in the day (and might have had one), but was in one of those breaks where I wasn't really playing when it came out. I restarted again a lot in grad school, and by then the single hardcover monstrous manual was out.

While the non-4th editions did (eventually) have a monster manual two and/or players handbook two, or whatever, they really were based around a single player and dm book and then an expandable array of monster books. 4e is the one that broke away from that with needing multiple books to get the core races and classes.

I regret most of the 1e and 2e purging I did over the years and have mostly rebuilt (except for the 1e survival guides and MM2). For 3e I "upgraded" to Pathfinder and liked that better. For 4e I never really played and it wasn't really my jam so the ones I had were easy to let go.

Although to be fair from looking at a lot of folks book shelves I never really had that much.

Me too. I sold all my boxed sets, but the MCs were so battered that they went in the bin.

I remember seeing Volume One in the Game Store when it was current release. But it was obvious then that it wasn't a complete book. Settled for the Monstrous Manual. Had recently purchased a house and money was a bit tight. Plus the folks I gamed with at the time weren't playing D&D. We played Star Fleet Battles, Car Wars, GURPS and Traveller. And a few odd ball things. A few years later, a different group started a 2e game. But by then, many of the MC volumes had sold out or never showed in a local store.

It's a great one. I usually hear it used to describe when a criminal, who pleads guilty, is required to describe the crimes for which he is being sentenced.
