TIL that Black Sabbath’s song “The Mob Rules” on the Heavy Metal movie soundtrack differs from the version on the Mob Rules album because the movie one was essentially the demo version.

Tangentially, BÖC’s “Veteran of 1000 Psychic Wars” was used instead of “Vengeance (The Pact)” because the latter song essentially told the Taarna story’s plotline too completely.

TIL about The Third Wave.
It's horrifying to think it took less than a week. I wonder what might happen if it had gone longer. What if they let it go too long and couldn't shut it down?

In April 1967, a Palo Alto history teacher named Ron Jones invented a classroom movement called The Third Wave and shut it down on day five when 200 students showed up in uniform expecting a national leader

I always wondered if there were any students who had a sufficient anti-authority tendency that even if they went along with it initially (it was presented as an experiment by a popular teacher after all) would have pulled back as it went on. I think I'd have noped out of there at the point the "informers" were set up. Even in my teens that would have made my skin crawl.

I haven't seen the documentary. There may have been some students interviewed that didn't go along with it.

Would this work with the short attention span of kids today? I don't think they would need informers, they'll tell on themselves through social media.

What am I talking about? It couldn't happen now. A parent would get offended. Conspiracy theorists would say it's proof they were right. Also, look at the man in charge.

I was a prefect in my last 3 years of high school and, even so, would likely have noped out of it from the beginning. Most of my fellow prefects would have likely gone all in, however.
