Over time these foxes took on characteristics of domestic dogs.

My own theory is that foxes decided wolves and wild dogs got the good end of the stick out of becoming domesticated and just were waiting for their chance.

Yeah, I was 7-8 years old and could see the grift. "Ancient people couldn't have done X because they weren't intelligent enough." As it technology and intelligence are the same thing. I'm vaguely reminded of a UK comedy sketch where the punchline was "Well, put more men on the job!"

Reminded me of the Nigerian preacher who tried to reenact the Bibiic tale of Daniel and the Lions. It ended badly and quickly for him.

And further reminded of other preachers in Africa who have earned their Darwin Award by attempting dumb acts of daredevilry, from attempting to fast for 40 days, getting buried alive, asking their followers to shoot them, and handling venomous snakes...

I think the trick to successfully going into the desert for 40 days without food is to stay at the Bellagio and drink white russians or something else with cream in it
