PS. I’m as usual these days particularly interested in solo play, so any anecdotes of Trav soloing would be particularly welcome. But not to the exclusion of all else.
I mostly spend what time I give to Traveller discussing the OTU on TravellerRPG.com ... No longer the fiefholder, still leading the staff. No loner skimming every thread, either.

My last Trav game, in 2024, used a homebrewed adaptation of MegaTraveller... I tweak the task system (TN's up 1, but atts contribute att/3 instead of att/5), and changing the breakpoints on the pen vs av; the low pen becomes at least half av (rather than at least AV) and the high pen is not less than AV, instead of twice AV. (This maps tighter to Striker outcomes, IMO). I also added a few careers backported from TNE. And ship designs from T20.

I love the setting, but I'm probably not going to do Traveller anymore as a game, especially given Mongoose's rules. And that I found it less than amusing in 2024. It just doesn't hold the same appeal it used to.

I ran a CT one-shot in 2023 and again in 2025... and all that I remember disliking was still there, and still disliked. And what I liked about it was still there, but also is in MegaTraveller. The dislikes are why I used MegaTraveller as my goto edition for 30 years.
Mind you, I've run CT, MT, TNE, T4, T20, MGT PT, MGT 1e, and my MT variant... I've got T5 and MgT2... but no interest in running either.

I've no games based upon CE other than Wanderer and CE itself, and have run neither. (Wanderer is a Fantasy Traveller).
I have complete collections of CT, MT, TNE, T4, and GT/GTIW in PDF.

I used to have a copy of 6-stat - a pseudoclone of CT from about 2002...

My origin in Traveller was fall of 1983, playing at lunch in Chugiak HS, Chugiak AK... we played in the Social Studies Center.
In fall 85, I took over running. The game was CT 2nd ed; I ran mostly from The Traveller Book, which has a few minor differences from the 3LBBs version.

In fall 87, I switched to MegaTraveller, and seldom looked back.
In the 90's, I tried TNE several times, returning to MT after each campaign, sometimes mid-campaign. Simillar in the late 90's for T4.
I playtested T20. Yeah, I am in the credits.
I was active in the playtest for MGT 1e, too. Also got in the credits there.

I've no plans to get the D&D5E flavor.
I may someday run my port to VTM 1e mechanics... was written mostly for a friend's use.

Okay, so you have been there and done that. :)

What about the setting most appeals to you theee days? What would you be likely to do with it for a campaign?

If you want to make your own Traveller style maps, Campaign Cartographer 3+ with the Cosmographer add-on has templates and even some automation around all the Traveller style maps (sector, planet, etc). CC3+ the current release has been on Humble Bundle fairly often for a killer deal. Probably because CC4 is coming out in the next year or three, but 3+ will do everything you want/need. ProFantasy Software - Cosmographer 3

Fantasy Grounds VTT (now totally free) has tons of Traveller DLC (not free). There are some folks over there that are totally into solo play and the platform is great for randomizing things. More than just tables, but story/descriptions, encounters, etc. There is a guide and other discussions on solo play. Perhaps the best place to jump in is here: https://fantasygrounds.com/forums/entry.php?410-Solo-Play-in-FGU-Intro

Hmmmm… I’m currently playing in a Traveller Hero game (a Third Imperium game using a Hero System conversion of all of the Traveler bits and bobs). I’ll shortly take over GM duties to run an extended adventure featuring Ancients sites and space-archeology.

I also periodically run Mongoose 2E in and around the Spinward Marches.

I’ve always got time for space archeology. There ar reasons H. Beam Piper is one of my primal influences.
