TTRPG Players wanted for NEW online psychology study

Hi there,

RPGer-turned-academic-psychologist seeks TTRPG players (aged 18+) to complete a short survey (10 mins) in aid of a research project investigating who plays TTRPGs and why. Any help very much appreciated! Link below, and any questions just ping me at steven.samuel@citystgeorges.ac.uk.

For the nearly 500 people who did my last study, a BIG THANK YOU! This is a NEW study and I would love your participation whether you did the previous one or not (it makes no difference).

Findings will be posted back here, like I did with my last survey.

All help appreciated!

Broadly speaking, how frequently do you ROLE-PLAY your character for who they are (instead of who you are)?

The question seems a bit naïve. I cannot help playing characters in a way that is influenced by my own personality, because I'm using the same brain as I do for my own personality. I thus create characters that I can actually play reasonably accurately, who aren't the same as me, but aren't completely different either.

The question about characters' ages doesn't consider the presence of species with much longer or shorter lifespans than humans in many fantasy and SF games.

Thank you for your time, and for the comment.

Survey answered!

Just a question, since perhaps it was intentional for checking consistency of reading: there's a couple of questions where it says "Please Choose X" rather than add a question. Were those missing questions?

A bit of feed back - the survey was quite hard to complete on a touch device with those sliders, and a 100 point scale seemed unnecessarily precise. I never answered a question that wasn’t a multiple of five personally. Sometimes just taking your finger off the controller would move it randomly by a point or two.

That's good for me to know, thank you. Sounds annoying. Thanks for your time too.
