TTRPGs With Crafts and Props

One of my gaming group is really into painting minis, and another is really into making terrain. So we get some crafts deployed as part of our gaming sessions…

I occasionally make crib-sheets, map templates and the like. I wouldn't be keen on keeping a handwritten journal, because my handwriting is poor, and composing text that I can't edit afterwards is slow and distracting.

I keep a log on my laptop, during online games, and can do that without interfering with play, except for occasionally asking for brief pauses while I type. The ability to revise the text afterwards means I don't have to worry about grammar and can go much faster.

Very good point, and one of my goals is to figure out a good form fillable page format that can be printed and added to the journal so that you can add or replace pages, probably in a disc-bound journal format.

Yeah, and this is why i want to have a digital journal option for people that like that. For my game at least it isnt just a campaign journal in the normal sense, it is a group resource, it allows for group resources to be tracked easily, and acts as basically the core book for your group in that specific campaign. Digital can do that just fine for some groups, but not for all groups. Still a slick little app for chargen, advancement, and Lorebook, would be a great idea.

Caveat: I haven't gotten around to downloading the app and trying this out yet, but "Whitelines" could possibly help sync the analog and digital players. Perhaps more for the shared Lorebook?
The pages are perforated, so they could be run through a printer. (No idea if they are available in looseleaf.)

Discbound systems tend to use a 25mm spacing, while Filofax/Miraclebind uses a 1" spacing. If you stick with a smaller page sizes, pages punched for disk-bound systems will fit in coil-bound notebooks.
(I have punches for both spacings)

I wouldn't put that kind of expectation on others, but if I felt inspired to do some kind of supplementary crafts, I would just do it. It's no different from feeling like baking a cake and bringing it to a game versus expecting someone else to bring cake.

Pretty huge difference between those, though.

And...you are talking about it as if someone is expecting others to do something they wont do themselves.

I am asking about the group all doing a fairly light craft as part of the game. Not asking a player to be the notetaker or something, but the group making something that is then used in gameplay.

On the contrary, the issue would be someone expecting others to do something they want to do themselves, and think everyone should do together. The right thing to do is for the gung-ho player to make enough of the thing for everyone if they are so keen. Otherwise I would suspect that the person in question is a teacher or similar profession, and expects a group of adults sparing a few precious hours of limited free time for gaming to jump on the proposed group project like a gaggle of kindergartners.

Before I could play my first game of my first TTRPG, I had to color in the numbers on the dice with a provided crayon. At least I didn't have cut out chits and draw them from a hat.
