Ubercon's September con drew about 750-1,000 attendees, while GenCon draws in the 25,000+ range. We ran a booth at Ubercon for the September show. The staff is really great, but the show is not a good one for rpg's. Almost all of the rpg players (and there were not a lot of them) are with the rpga so if there's no rpga awards to be given, it's a tough sell to get players to sign up for non-rpga events. In addition, rpg's are competing against computer games (there were about 50 computer terminals at the last con), anime, board games and miniatures. The location and its layout are not great either. The dealer's room was on the opposite side of the hotel from the gaming tables. To make matters worse, there was a wedding on Saturday, so half of the hotel was blocked off. Players trying to get from their hotel room to the gaming tables had to go outside in the rain and then come back in on the opposite side of the hotel. The hotel is also in a somewhat isolated location near a cluster of outlet stores and large company headquarters, (Panasonic is across the street.)
