Uncanny X-Men #428 (Spoilers)

Psychotic Dreamer

First Post
I just started picking up Uncanny X-Men again. This was my second issue and boy what an issue. Personally its something I have been waiting to see made official for quite sometime.

Spoiler space, I guess.

Mystique is Nightcrawlers mother.

YES! YES!

His father is some red skinned teleporter, who bamfs and has a tail. Looked kind of devil-like. Which I'm quite sure was the point. Should be interesting to see how this Draco story line develops.

Anywho. Thats all. Nothing more. I'm done rambling. Really.

I'm not sure how much of it has ever come up in the comics, but there has long been speculation among fans. Mainly due to the similar look of the two characters. While the whole I am your X relative is fairly cliche', I do enjoy it sometimes. This is one of those cases, for me at least.

It's been long speculated, both recent cartoons had an episode explaining it using that theory, though neither tackled the actual father.

Now the question becomes, why now? The story was specifically mentioned on the cover as being a prelude to something. So apparently Kurt's birth is going to play an important role in something...

It was never established, but the issue was raised when she first appeared. Mostly noting the physical resemblence and wondering if there was more to it than that.

It was established that she was his mother. Her version of the story was that his father was a nobleman that she had been living with.

She admitted to being his mother and promptly abandoning him.

Yeah, it's been 'cannon' for a while now. I've got that issue too where she's being hunted by one of the human supremisict and saves Nightcrawler's life apparently at the cost of her own.

One of the main reasons I stopped collecting comics wasn't because they weren't interesting or innovative but that they keept going over the same ground and the inability of anyoen to stay dead. I mean even the punisher who took a bullet to his head by his own hand came back. Sheesh...

I knew I've read that before. I have that issue from something like 10 years ago. This has been canon forever!

Stupid Marvel. Get a clue. This would be like if they did an issue that intimated that Professor X and Magneto might have been friends once! Oooh, astonishing!

You must never ever ever speak of this miniseries again. In fact, it never actually happened! You just had a very bad dream. There there, you poor dear. Here, read this delightful Punisher story by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. See? Everything's okay honey. Now back to bed!
