I have really started liking sludge metal…I love Down

Down is great, I loved Nola and II. Saw them in 2007 and 2008. The 2007 show was fantastic, the next one was pretty bad, ironically very low energy, Phil seemed like he was drunk. Down III was OK, it had a few good songs, & I pretty much checked out at Down IV Pt 1.

Iron maiden was my favorite growing up and have seen them live a bunch.

Same here. They always put on good shows, I've never been disappointed by them. I skipped the Blaze Bailey records but liked everything up until Dance of Death. Brave New World is when they started writing more prog-type songs with more 6-9 minute ones per album. They are good records but everything from A Matter of Life and Death forward are hard to get through from start to finish.

Have seen Megadeth a goodly number of times. Rust in Peace was a revelation

Saw them for the Clash of the Titans tour in 1991 for Rust in Peace. The bill was Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Slayer, & Megadeth. That was one of the best concerts I ever saw. I saw them again in 2010 and the played the entire RIP record. It was the Town Ballroom which has 1000-person capacity. Excellent show as well.

I don't work anymore, don't go out to bars and don't see a lot of my old friends too often so I don't hear a lot of new music these days. The local radio stations are terrible, so I don't bother listening to them. Every once in a while, I find a new band I like.

I have to be careful when playing this Kylesa tune. I find it quite hypnotic, and often close my eyes when it plays and just vibe.

Soooooo…not the best tune for driving.

The whole Deliverance record is great from start to finish; there isn't a bad song on it. Nothing since that album compared in my opinion. My friend gave me a copy of Good God/Bad Man that came out earlier this year think I listened to it once. I don't even know where it is.

I'm not that big on their music, but I kind of like how they don't have a specific lead singer/guitarist/drummer/bassist, etc., and everyone switches off playing and singing depending on the song.

Do you like slower doom, like Bell Witch? I've been really digging that lately.

I actually saw high on fire in West Virginia or Pennsylvania. My friend in grad school loved them…but I really haven’t sat down and listened. That was 24 years ago! Omg I am so old! I will give it a closer listen.

I will check out bell witch. Not familiar but I bet I will like them. Have heard of them and I do weird Amazon Music rabbit holes at times and they he name rings a …nevermind.

Yeah, all the epic songs that last 8 plus minutes does get tiresome. Plus I miss the aggressive nature of the older albums. The bass and drums, which used to be so dominate, have gotten meh.

That their last two CDs have been double albums didn't help. Too much filler. I'd prefer a great 40 min record over a 90 min sub-mediocre one. I wonder if having 3 guitarists plays a role in this? Bruce Dickinsons last 2 solo CDs were great; he's working on another one if I'm not mistaken hoping to get it out soon.
