Verdant Lord and polymorph spells

The Verdant Lord PrC from MotW "gains" the Plant type at 10th level: I just noticed that though it is explicitely written that the druid retains his Wild-shape abilities (druidic and treant wild-shape), he still loses the benefits from most important spells such as Shapechange, Bite of the Were... spells from WoTC website, Feathers and Animal Shapes...

I'm just wondering wether Shapechange could work since it changes your type but i guess the spell doesn't work at first so... ouch !

There should never be a detrimental effect to "gaining" a type like this. The spells would compensate for the druids new form. Think of it like part of the transformation including how to make those spells work for you still.
My Verdant lord is actualy considered half plant gaining the "Plant" benifits while retaining his elf characteristics. "The Embrace" creates a hybrid with the aspects of both "types"
This is how they would retain thier wildshape into animal abilities. (although a dire bear/oak combination would look super cool.)

Just for the fun of it. Bolo (said Verdant Lord) looks like an elf but has a living and growing wreath of ivy around his head like a crown. the crown is a living part of him and is how he absorbs light for "photosynthisis".
