Kids in the Hall. Sketch comedy show from Canada. I don't know what episode that's from, but they do stuff like that regularly.
According to Google I was 11 when Kids In The Hall went off the air. So it was not necessarily before my time but I did not watch it that I recall. We were more a Royal Canadian Air Farce family with a side of This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

If you can find the episodes on streaming well worth it.One of the GOATs in comedy skit shows.

Windrose might also be worth checking out if you enjoy tales of piracy on the high seas with a healthy dash of fantasy (not too far off from Pirate Borg). It’s currently in early access.
Yeah I'd definitely agree Windrose is the piratical equivalent of Valheim and Enshrouded. It's at the same sort of level. I personally wish it had a bit more complexity and specificity too it, but it's good fun and kinda cleaner gameplay design than most, just not "elevated", which is what I'm looking for in a survival crafter now - something that takes the genre up a level, and not in terms of being fiddly or whatever, but maybe a bit more The Sims-y? Or Rimworld/DF-y? Or way better action or something.

How does it compare to Sea of Thieves?

I will definitely check out Windrose, but is there a game that has that "elevation"?

No. Otherwise I'd be playing it lol.

Valheim had it compared to what came before, but there's a lot on that level now. There's a ton that could, frankly, be relatively easily done to elevate things, particularly with procedural generation, better enemies, and better combat and loot systems. But it all requires effort and thinking outside a specific box. They'll get there eventually.
