Triple and Quadruple damage in a vp/wp system:
Under the Vp/Wp rules as Presented in Unearthed Arcana, Weapons with x3 and x4 crit damage multiplyiers instead have 19-20 and 18-20 threat ranges. While this works just as well from a mechanical standpoint, it really removes the whole "this weapon doesn't get in a really good hit that often, but when it does, you're dead" flavor.
Rather than Changing the threat range of these weapons, roll a set of iterative attacks for threat confirmation equal to the damage multiplier minus one. for instance, if Reoric uses a scythe to attack an orc, and rolls a natural twenty. His attack bonus with the scythe is +12, and the orc has an AC of 18. He makes 3 attack rolls at +12/+7/+2 and rolls a 2, a 15, and a 19, resulting in a miss (14) followed by two hits (21 and 21). So he deals double damage to the orc's woud points since his damage with a scythe is 2d4+2, he rolls 4d4+4 for 14 points of wound damage.
