D&D General War- What's it Good For? How to Handle Rules Conflicts

Man, I loved Priests of a Specific Mythoi/Specialty Priests. I mean, they weren't balanced at all, but they were cool.
Some were quite flavorful, but TSR had no idea what they should look like. The PHB example (the druid) sucked in 2e. Complete Priests Handbook was a joke, right down to neutering the cleric. Every setting had different design levels and powers so it ranged from weak (Dragonlance) to OP (Forgotten Realms). If TSR had established an actual power budget for them and stuck to it, it might have been viable. But while I appreciate the flavor, I was happy to have one priest class by 3e.

The Book of the Righteous in 3e by I think Green Ronin (don't quote me) is the ultimate speciality priests book. I considered it the best rules addendum to come out of 3e. My favorite setting was Ptolus.
